Recently back in stock in part exchange for a larger loco, here we have another well made example of the ever popular 5" gauge GWR 45xx Prairie tank to the 'firefly' design by Martin Evans. Built by a very capable model engineer responsible for a nicely made GWR Pannier we had in stock last year, and owned by a friend of his for the past few years. As a result she's in well looked after mechanical condition.
The silver soldered copper boiler can of course come with a full fresh hydraulic boiler test as well as a fresh steam test so she's ready to run. Lubrication is mechanical with the reservoir easy to get to on the running boards. Water is fed through an injector, as well as a crosshead pump as per the prototype with a bypass valve on the back of the tank on the footplate, and of course there's also a hand pump in the tank as per the photos.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
